Your input is needed!

The WSSC Industry and Regulatory committee intends to begin making general announcements concerning communications that are of interest to the organization at large.

The types of information that we would like to collect include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Safety Alerts or "Lessons Learned" that could apply to the western slope
  • Changes in laws or regulations
  • Safety-related articles
  • Drafts or updates of industry-related information
  • Training and learning opportunities
  • New Safety Tools
  • Ideas from our members
  • Any related item that may be of interest to the body of the WSSC

An e-mail account has been created to help us collect this information from the  body of the organization.  Please forward any communication that you think would be useful to alerts@wssconline.org.  All information submitted will remain anonymous.  Any information shared with the body of the WSSC will be screened so that it does not include Company names or the like.

Only public safety alerts which have been released from the Company that created them will be allowed to be posted.  Public information collected from organizations like SPE, IADC, etc. may be used as well.

Fall Golf Tournament Cancelled

The Fall golf tournament has been cancelled due to lack of interest and competing events!

Below are the events that we were currently up against for the 19th.  In 2008, we were 92% full by two weeks out.  This spring we were 77% full by that time period.  The tournament was not filling up so we have cancelled the event.
  • Colorado Mountain Winefest (September 17-20)
  •  Two Rivers Chautauqua (September 17-19)
  •  Pork & Hops BBQ Challenge (September 18-19)
  • Colorado Pro Rodeo Finals (September 18-20)
  • Tour de Vineyards (September 19)
  • Western Colorado Triathlon (September 19)

Third Quarter Meeting

Thanks to all who attended the quarterly meeting on Wednesday, August 19.  There were are couple of "roadblocks" in the agenda but, hopefully they weren't too noticeable.  We especially would like to thank our presenters, Mr. Todd Zentner with OSHA and Colorado State Senator Josh Penry for their willingness to spend the morning with us and present their information.

Congratulations go out to Mr. Bob Arnold, Mr. Duane Higgins, and Mr. Curt Spurgeon.  They were the winners of the meetings' door prize drawings.

We only had a couple of comment notes returned after the meeting.  We appreciate any input that you may have to make the WSSC a better organization!  What kind of information or program will help you or your company? Safety training, safety product information and updates, and new regulations and legislation are a few of the things that the WSSC would like to provide the oil and gas industry contractors in the area.  Please, let us know where your areas of need or concern is and we'll do our best to address those issues.

Thanks for help and support!

NEW Ideas!!!!

If anyone has input on new ideas and / or areas which the Western Slope Safety Council should be focusing on, please submit them to admin@wssconline.org.  We welcome and encourage everyone's input!

We need local information to distribute to our members!!!!

A lot of people have expressed interest in having the WSSC provide communication of "safety alerts", bulletins, and other safety-related communications.  We can definitely assist in the distribution of regional and global information, but we need YOUR help with local information related to our industry.

All information submitted to the WSSC will be considered confidential as to the sender or company.  Any safety alerts released by our operating and/or service companies for distribution should not specify personal names of employees or the name of the contractiong company.  We would request the same for any pictures submitted with the information.

We want to communicate important information within our industry and not isolate any companies or their employees.  We want to improve safety on the Western Slope!
